Ready to Bump
Seeing the fantastical Sherry Vine's Sunday show at Barracuda is a treat, not just because these days I'm usually DJ'ing at Arrow Bar on Sundays, and not just because I can sing along with her since I know all the words. Like the wine, Sherry gets better with time, which is odd since Sherry is celebrating her 18th birthday in a couple weeks.
Of course, Sherry showed the video for her parody of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," which now has 2,615,632 hits on YouTube. She also treated us to her version of Madonna's "4 Minutes," which in Sherry's world is a paean about working as a "lady of the night" in New York City. As Sherry always says, "write about what you know." (Wink, wink). This week, Sherry premiered her hilarious parody of the Taylor Swift's tone-deaf performance at the Grammy's. Check out the video directed by Francis Legge here.
Sherry also explained to us all--"ladies, gentleman, and Britney Houston"--why her "sticky bun" is "so delicious" with her ditty "Sherrylicious" (sung to "Fergilicious). And Sherry playfully teased Britney again when she dedicated her closing PSA "Bump" (sung to Madonna's "Jump"), her warning to those club kids who go bump in the night, if you understand what I mean. (For some reason, I woke up singing "Bump" today).
It was such a nice surprise to see Britney out. It was so nice to see Britney work up a storm on the dance floor at the F Word last Friday when I DJ'ed and played my dub of her single "And the Crowd Goes" for her. Check out the video and my dub here.

Another nice surprise on Sunday was Dorothy Bishop, who did a number from her current show Thursday evenings at Cafe Iguana, "A Sarah Palin Spectacular." She had Sarah down almost too much. In the hilarious number that she did, she urged us to be "more hetero" like her. I'm sure the rest of her show is a treat.
